The REAL Dumbest Trade of the year!

Everyone is pounding me, still, for the Maroney/Parker trade. However, the REAL dumbest trade of the year I think I made is the one where I got virtually no crap at all. And it's not like you guys didn't have your opportunities.

This was the trade I made earlier in the year, Brad Johnson and Joseph Addai for David Carr, with Dave and Brandon. In retrospect I think this was the classic "I'm gonna do something just for the sake of doing something" trade. Yes, I like Carr and he was reliable, and at the time I didn't really trust any of my quarterbacks, including Phillip Rivers. I also realized that Carr played a big role in my winning, and that with Gary Kubiak as his coach this was only going to get better. At the same time Addai was breaking in with the Colts and was only a part-time back. Needless to say, Dave and Brandon jumped at this, as anyone would have.

I guess in the end it worked out, sort of - I got Frank Gore (who I think is one of the best backs in the game), whom I used Carr as a chit for, and of course Maroney (who I still like). But I had Addai, and I just wonder whether I would have been better off keeping him. Oh, and by the way, Brad Johnson was the throw-in, and I would wager that he's probably played pretty close to as good as Carr since the deal!

While this certainly was not Rafael Palmiero for Kevin Tapani, I think if there was one trade I could take back it would probably be that one. Good job Dave, and may Addai become the next Eric Dickerson!
